India is home to 70% of the world’s tigers. The population of tigers in India has risen from 1,706 in 2011 to 2,226 in 2014: this is an increase of 30%.
The number of tigers in other countries, however, is falling. India has said that it is willing to donate some tiger cubs to other countries to help them with conservation projects and to further increase tiger numbers elsewhere.
